HOPE FOR THE PLANET
I had a recurring dream to create a haven for hope that has become a journey of global connection and community.
I incorporate wishes into my sculpture.
I have made a downloadable PDF for anyone wanting to give a wish. Each page contains nine Wish Papers. You may fill out only one or collect wishes from friends and family. You may print out multiple pages to collect even more wishes for this project.
When filling out your paper, I ask for your first name, the age you feel, and your wish.
You may stop by my studio to complete your Wish Paper or drop off the finished pages. You can also mail them to my studio:

I will add your wish for the planet to my installation. May the positive energy toward our world elicit global healing.
SYMBOLISM
My sculpture measures about eight feet in all directions. The number eight symbolizes infinity, rebirth, and abundance. Each Wish Paper is rolled into the shape of an unfurling seedling, revealing a name or age but concealing the wish. The handwriting unique to the individual shows, cueing the concept of our individuality blending in a common mission-spiraling up together for hope.
The Wish Papers measure three inches by three and a half inches. The number three represents all: the beginning, middle, and end, or the Earth, waters, and beyond, as well as the body, mind, and spirit. The number three and a half symbolizes things still in progress, unfinished.
I have suspended the wishes in an abstracted double helix to represent DNA, common to all life on Earth.
I created the outer haven, I Love You, with coffee filters to symbolize community and connection.
These nests of coffee filters are grouped in twos and nines. The number two is associated with harmony, balance, partnership, and love. Nine symbolizes universal love, spiritual awakening, enlightenment, and humanitarianism.
I used ferrous metal and magnets to represent the pull of Earth’s gravity. Whether you are on the left or right politically, we are all held equally to the same planet.
EXPERIENCE THE SCULPTURE
When you stand underneath and look up into the wing-like filters, lifting your chest and opening your heart, there is an involuntary intake of breath that cleanses. Walk into your world with a shifted perspective and pass it on.
Making Hope For The Planet
HOPE FOR THE PLANET
She lives with me in my studio for the time being, her soft feathery creaminess, a quiet company while I work below.
I want her forever home where many humans can add their wishes as they contemplate a world where their wishes come true.
What is YOUR wish?
